What Local Law 152 Requires
Local Law 152 is a New York City regulation requiring periodic inspections of exposed gas piping systems in buildings to protect public safety. All buildings with gas service — except one- and two-family homes — must comply. Non-compliance can result in civil penalties of up to $10,000 per year.
Inspection Frequency
Gas piping inspections are required every 4 years, based on your building's Community District sub-cycle (A, B, C, or D). Gas Pro Inspectors will confirm your exact deadline and ensure your inspection is completed on time. Missing your cycle date triggers immediate DOB penalties.
Required Filings
Compliance requires a GPS-1 inspection report completed by a Licensed Master Plumber, followed by a GPS-2 certification filed with the NYC Department of Buildings within 60 days. If deficiencies are found, corrections must be documented and filed within 120 days. We handle all of this for you.
